West Hazleton home damaged by fire

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Shortly before 11PM on Monday, April 17, the West Hazleton Fire Department responded to 110 Winters Avenue in their borough for a working structure fire. Police, on routine patrol, had noticed smoke in the area and requested fire department to respond to the area of Winters Avenue and North Warren Street.  Police then pinpointed the source to 110 Winters Avenue where smoke was pouring from the third floor.  Police reported a fire in the attic with all occupants out of the building. SUV catches fire in Pottsville

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 11 AM on Thursday, April 13, Pottsville Fire Department Stations 30 (Humane) & 40 (Goodwill) were dispatched to the area of Sands Ford on Route 61 in the City for a reported vehicle fire. Crews were advised police were on scene to the rear of the building next to Sands with a working engine compartment fire.  P-1 arrived on scene and established command.  Engine 41 arrived and stretched a bumper line with the assistance on Engine 32’s crew. Coroner called to crash on Burma

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 1:30 PM on Monday, April 3, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire Districts 26 (Ryan Twp.), 6 (Delano Twp.), 25 (Rush Twp. – Hometown) with Mahanoy City Engine 454 (Citizens), Ryan Twp. EMS and APTS Medic 11 to the area of 2086 Burma Road in Ryan Township for a reported motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Kulpmont home catches fire, spreads to exposure

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA – At 1:50 AM on Sunday, April 2, Northumberland County 9-1-1 dispatched the first alarm assignment for a dwelling fire at 909 Scott Street in Kulpmont. First arriving crews fire heavy fire showing from the attic of a single family duplex with close exposures on the B and D sides.  Engine 221 secured a water supply and approached the scene from 8th street laying hundreds of feet of LDH. Fire rocks Coal Township building

NORTHUMERLAND COUNTY, PA – Shortly after 7:30 AM on Tuesday, March 28, Northumerland County 9-1-1 sent out the first alarm assignment to 217 3rd Street in the Ranshaw section of Coal Township. First arriving crews found a working fire in a multiple unit row-home style apartment building.  The fire appeared to be located in the Southern-most apartment and was spreading to the next apartment.  Smoke was pushing from the entire roofline. Fire damages West Penn home

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 4:35 AM on Wednesday, March 22, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched a first alarm structure assignment to 2056 West Penn Pike in West Penn Township for a house fire.  The first alarm included Fire Districts 37 (West Penn) & 55 (New Ringgold), Tamaqua Fire (American & Ladder Co.) with Lehigh County Station 10 (Germanville) & 17 (New Tripoli).  Tamaqua EMS was also due. Suspect in jail after high speed chase

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – A high speed chase that traveled throughout the middle of Schuylkill County ended Tuesday night in Frackville. According to a press release issued by the Pottsville Police Department, the chase initiated around 10:15 PM after a red Chrysler 300 nearly struck an unmarked police vehicle on a special assignment on Mauch Chunk Street.  A marked patrol unit spotted the acting vehicle parked in the middle of the road in the 400 Block of East Market Street which then took off onto North George Street as the officer approached the vehicle.  The officer took pursuit using lights … Continue reading

Quick response limits damage to Harwood firehouse

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Just after 11AM on Monday, March 20, Luzerne County 9-1-1 sent out the commercial structure fire box to 874 Old Street in the Village of Harwood, Hazle Township.  The address is the location of Station 241 (Harwood Fire Company).  Hazle Twp. Station 141, Harwood Station 241 and APTS Medic 11 were due on the response. Hazle Twp. catches minor job overnight

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Around 3:30 AM on Monday, March 20, Hazle Twp. Fire & Rescue was dispatched with Columbia MICU 96 to 4193 Hollywood Boulevard for reports of a chimney fire with extension into the residence. Demolition begins on Kaier Brewery

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Nearly 72 hours after a contractor working on the site of the former Kaier Brewery noticed the abandoned building twisting and debris falling to the ground, the building located on North Main Street began to be knocked down Thursday afternoon.
