Three injured in Union Twp. crash

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Three people were injured in a two vehicle crash on Ringtown Boulevard in Union Township Tuesday morning around 10:30.  Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 30 (Ringtown Valley), Shenandoah Engine 742 (Columbia) and Shenandoah ALS to the area of the scenic overlook on Ringtown Boulevard for a motor vehicle crash with injuries. 3 Alarms for dwelling fire outside Freeland

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Shortly after 9AM, Foster Twp. Fire, Freeland Fire, White Haven Fire, Freeland EMS and APTS Medic 11 were dispatched to the 300 Block of Foster Avenue in Foster Township for a report of a house fire with possible entrapment. Initial reports were given that callers stated there was smoke and flames coming from a residence with possibly people trapped inside.  First responding units advised they had smoke showing from a distance and Luzerne County advised they were now getting reports of people jumping from windows. Multiple RVs burn in Brandonville

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 9:30PM on Monday, September 19, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 9 (Sheppton-Oneida) to the area of 899 Pole Road in East Union Township for a report of an automobile fire. Chief 09 and Engine 09-10 went responding and were advised of at least two RVs on fire in the yard of a residence in this area.  Chief 09-01 arrived on scene shortly after and advised a working fire in two RVs impinging on two nearby RVs.  Chief 09 requested a tanker out of Shenandoah and Ringtown be added to the card. Tremont hosts 2016 Schuylkill County Convention

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – The Tremont Fire Company was the host of the 62nd Annual Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Association Convention over the last week finishing off with a large parade of fire apparatus, bands, floats and other entries.  The parade kicked off at 1PM and traveled through the streets of Tremont.  After the parade was complete, attendees gathered at the fire company for a party and to receive awards for the best apparatus in attendance. Nuremberg-Weston Vol. Fire Co. celebrates milestones

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – On Sunday, August 28, 2016, the Nuremberg-Weston Volunteer Fire Company gathered at its station on Hazle Street between Nuremberg and Weston to celebrate two milestones.  The first was 30 years of service to the community after the merger of the Nuremberg Fire Company and the Weston Fire Company.  The second milestone was the housing of Tanker 585. A fire apparatus parade kicked off the celebration at 2PM that included fire companies from Columbia, Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties and traveled through Weston, Nuremberg, Fern Glen and Rock Glen before returning to the station. Practice Round at PGA Championship

SPRINGFIELD, NJ – On Wednesday, July 27, I traveled to the Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey to attend a practice round for the PGA Championship (the fourth and final major of the PGA 2016 season). I’m not sure exactly how I came up with the idea but two weeks prior I looked at the remaining schedule of events and saw the Championship was close and that cameras were allowed during the practice rounds so I purchased my ticket and off I went. Driver ejected from pick-up in North Union

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 0001 hours on Sunday, July 17, Nuremberg-Weston Fire was dispatched to Buck Mountain Road at Truhan Lane for a vehicle crash with ejection. Engine 582 and 583 responded and were advised of a vehicle rollover with at least one person ejected and aeromedical on standby. Both engines arrived to find a large debris field approaching the scene from a pick-up truck that appeared to rollover multiple times before coming to rest off the roadway in a wooded area.  Crews quickly found one patient that had been ejected around 50 feet from the vehicle.  Engine 582 … Continue reading

Hazleton douses basement fire

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – After 5PM on Thursday, July 14, the Hazleton City Fire Department and APTS Medic 11 were dispatched to 640 Monges Street in the City for a reported structure fire. First responding units were advised of a caller reporting a basement fire and everyone was evacuating the structure.  The Duty Chief arrived on the scene to find a two and a half single family dwelling with nothing showing from the exterior.  Upon further investigation, a fire was discovered in the basement and a working fire was declared.
