Good Samaritan saves sleeping driver from truck fire

HAZLE TWP., Pa. – A Good Samaritan was able to arouse a sleeping truck driver to get him out of his burning truck Wednesday morning.  At 4:28 AM on Wednesday, May 23, Hazle Township Fire/Rescue and APTS Medic 11 were dispatched to the CanDo Expressway and Maplewood Drive near the Humboldt Industrial Park for a reported vehicle fire. Blaze destroys Hegins building

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. – Just after 9 AM on Monday, May 7, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched a first alarm assignment to the area of 886 East Mountain Road in Hegins Township for a building fire. The first alarm included Districts 13 (Hegins Valley), 10 (Pitman), 12 (Donaldson), 14 (Sacramento), 22 Station 4 (Joliett) and 58 Station 2 (Pine Grove North End). Northern Schuylkill crashes send two to hospital

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. – Two crashes sent two drivers to area hospitals during the evening hours of Wednesday, May 2. The first crash came in around 7 PM in the 200 Block of South Main Street in Shenandoah.  Crews arrived on scene to find a PT Cruiser versus a tree with the driver still in the vehicle.  A crew from Squrt 64-20 popped the door to access the patient who was transported to a local hospital by Shenandoah EMS.  Rescue 64-50 and Shenandoah Police were on the scene as well. Hazle Township brush fire brings multi-County response

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. – After 2 PM on Wednesday, May 2, Hazle Township Fire 141 was sent to the Eagle Rock Resort for a brush fire.  Crews arrived to find a rapidly spreading brush fire near the far end of the Resort moving toward the Humboldt Industrial Park and Interstate 81. Additional resources were requested to the scene including Forestry, Sheppton-Oneida, Harwood, Valley Regional, Sugarloaf, Freeland, McAdoo, Beaver Meadows and Nuremberg-Weston. Fire destroys Melanie Manor trailer

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. – Around 3:30 AM on Saturday, May 5, Schuylkill County dispatched District 30 (Ringtown Valley) to Melanie Manor for an unknown type fire.  As crews approached the scene, they found a fully involved house trailer fire in the development. The first alarm was sent as well as a tanker task force which brought units from Sheppton-Oneida, Nuremberg, Mahanoy City, Shenandoah, Frackville, Aristes, Beaver Twp., Butler Twp., Girardville and Gordon. Butler Twp. brush fire destroys outbuilding

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. – A brush fire spread to an outbuilding Tuesday morning in Butler Township.  Around 10 AM on Tuesday, April 24, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 4 (Lavelle & Fountain Springs) to 215 Germanville Road for a brush fire. The assignment was quickly upgraded to a structure assignment as a building was now reported to be on fire.  Englewood, Altamont and Ashland fire companies were now dispatched to the scene. Schuylkill County dedicates new burn building

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. – Schuylkill County firefighters have a new burn building for training and it is now ready to use.  Firefighters, Elected Officials and the general public gathered at the Schuylkill County Fire Training Grounds outside Frackville on Sunday, April 22 at 2 PM for the dedication ceremony. The program kicked off with emcee Dave Sattizahn, President of Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Association (SCVFA), welcoming the crowd and leading everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Facebook posts leads to shootout, standoff

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. – Hazleton Police Officers went to 305 East Elm Street in the City Monday morning around 8 AM to investigate a threatening Facebook post when they encountered gunfire from the back door. Police returned the gunfire and the actor retreated back into the residence. Backup was requested from neighboring departments, Fire/EMS was dispatched and the City’s Special Operations Group (SOG) was called out.
