Frackville crash slows SR61

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 6:39 AM on Wednesday, August 28, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 43 (Frackville), Frackville EMS and Shenandoah ALS to the area of 433 South Lehigh Avenue in Frackville for a vehicle accident with injuries. Responding units were advised of multiple calls reporting an accident with up to three vehicles involved and at least one person injured.  Rescue Engine 43-10 arrived on the scene and found a two vehicle accident in the intersection of Lehigh Avenue and Laurel Street.  Ambulance 4302 arrived on scene and initiated patient care. Helmet cam footage: garage fire in Ringtown

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Just before midnight on August 1, Schuylkill County dispatched the first alarm to 22 South 4th Street in Ringtown for a garage fire. District 30 (Ringtown Valley), District 9 (Sheppton-Oneida), Shenandoah for Engine 742 and Squrt 745, Nuremberg-Weston, Mahanoy City West End for the rescue, Ringtown BLS and Shenandoah ALS were due on the alarm. First arriving units found heavy fire showing from a large garage. Commercial fire draws crews from three counties

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 1:08 PM, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 49, Station 2 (McAdoo Inc.) to Lofty Road in Kline Township for a reported building on fire.  Carbon Engine 2911 (Trescow) and Luzerne Medic 11 (APTS) were also on the initial alarm. First responding crews were advised of multiple reports of an old building on fire on Lofty Road, it was unsure where exactly the building was located.  Police found the fire to be at the old American Cable Recyclers building at 599 Lofty Road in Delano Township. Church burns on Mount Saint Mary’s Campus

EMMITSBURG, MD – Around 8:30 PM on Friday, July 19, firefighters from around Pennsylvania were gathered at the National Fire Academy in Maryland for the PA State Weekend of training.  Attendees heard fire whistles in the distance and quickly found out a nearby church was on fire.  A column of smoke could be seen from the Academy grounds. The fire was found to be on the campus of Mount Saint Mary’s University.  The fire appeared to start from a lightning strike during a severe thunderstorm that recently moved through the area. CHRISTIANA, DE – While traveling to the Maryland State Fire Convention in Ocean City, I stumbled across a Job Johnny on fire in Delaware.  The fire quickly spread to all three Job Johnnies before crews arrived.  The fire was quickly knocked down once the engine arrived on scene.   Click here for the entire photo gallery

3rd alarm struck for the Eckley Miners Village

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Around 11:15 AM on Tuesday, June 4, Luzerne County 9-1-1 dispatched units to the Eckley Miners Village for a commercial fire alarm.  While enroute, additional reports were received of a working fire in a residential structure within the historic village. Medic 11B reported he could see smoke from miles away while enroute.  A second alarm was put on standby and quickly requested to respond to the scene.  Freeland Ladder arrived on scene and found a working fire in as single family dwelling.  The ladder took the address while Freeland Engine 55 positioned behind the truck.  Foster … Continue reading

6 people killed in Pottsville house fire

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 11:55 PM on Sunday, May 13, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 Transmitted Box 37 for the address of 231 Pierce Street in the City of Pottsville for a reported house fire with entrapment.  Responding units were advised of multiple calls reporting a fire with multiple people trapped within. SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 10:43 PM on Tuesday, April 9, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched the West Mahanoy Township Fire Department (Shenandoah Heights, William Penn and Altamont), the Shenandoah Fire Department for Squrt 745 and Squad 741, Englewood Fire for their Rapid Intervention Team and Shenandoah ALS to 191 Ohio Avenue in the Shenandoah Heights section of the township for a reported house fire.  The call was quickly upgraded to a fire with entrapment. E451 stretches on field fire

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Late in the afternoon of Saturday, April 6, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 received calls reporting a large column of black smoke somewhere in the area of the cogeneration plant outside Shenandoah. Forestry units were dispatched to investigate the source and Mahanoy City Engine 451 also went to investigate while returning from a motor vehicle accident. Crews found the source after traveling off-road near Route 339. Engine 451 found a field on fire with tires burning in the field as well. Brandonville brush fire

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – During the afternoon of Saturday, April 6, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched District 9 (East Union Twp.) and Shenandoah EMS to the intersection of Green Mountain Road and Trailer Road for a reported brush fire. Chief 9 responded with Utility 9-60 and Tanker 9-30 and found a field on fire as well as debris scattered throughout the backyard of a house. Nuremberg E583 was in the area completing driver training and offered their assistance.
