SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. – Schuylkill County firefighters have a new burn building for training and it is now ready to use.  Firefighters, Elected Officials and the general public gathered at the Schuylkill County Fire Training Grounds outside Frackville on Sunday, April 22 at 2 PM for the dedication ceremony. The program kicked off with emcee Dave Sattizahn, President of Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Association (SCVFA), welcoming the crowd and leading everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. – Hazleton Police Officers went to 305 East Elm Street in the City Monday morning around 8 AM to investigate a threatening Facebook post when they encountered gunfire from the back door. Police returned the gunfire and the actor retreated back into the residence. Backup was requested from neighboring departments, Fire/EMS was dispatched and the City’s Special Operations Group (SOG) was called out. SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – The 63rd Schuylkill County Firemen’s Convention week-long celebration culminated with a grand parade through Schuylkill Haven Saturday afternoon.  The Convention was hosted by the Schuylkill Hose Company #2 and included events ranging from a memorial mass, training seminar, history night and the parade. The parade brought firefighters from multiple counties to the borough.  Fire apparatus were inspected and judged at the Schuylkill Haven High School before the parade.  Afterward, everyone gathered at the Island Recreation Facility for a party and awards ceremony. LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – On Saturday morning runners and walkers gathered at the Nuremberg-Weston Volunteer Fire Company on Hazle Street for the first annual “Give it Hell” 7k Run/Walk.  Below are photos from the run as well as the kids fun run.  Any photos purchased from the event will be printed watermark free and proceeds will go toward the fire company! The Nuremberg-Weston Volunteer Fire Company is hosting the first annual “Give it Hell 7K” Run/Walk on September 9. This 7K (4.3 mile) race will start at 9 AM at the Nuremberg-Weston Volunteer Fire Company on Hazle Street in Weston, PA.  The race will travel through the villages of Nuremberg and Weston before finishing at the Fire Company.  The course is primarily a road course and will consist of gentle hills and flat areas. SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – A high speed chase that traveled throughout the middle of Schuylkill County ended Tuesday night in Frackville. According to a press release issued by the Pottsville Police Department, the chase initiated around 10:15 PM after a red Chrysler 300 nearly struck an unmarked police vehicle on a special assignment on Mauch Chunk Street.  A marked patrol unit spotted the acting vehicle parked in the middle of the road in the 400 Block of East Market Street which then took off onto North George Street as the officer approached the vehicle.  The officer took pursuit using lights … Continue reading →
