SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 2:53 PM on Monday, February 24, Schuylkill County 911 dispatched Fire District 43 (Frackville), Altamont and Englewood fire companies to 958 Mall Road in New Castle Township at the Holiday Inn Express for a vehicle fire.
Engine 43-15 went responding and was advised of multiple calls received reporting a camper on fire in the parking lot. It was unknown if anyone was in the vehicle. The engine spotted a large column of smoke as they were coming out of Frackville and knew they were going to work.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a medium size RV heavily involved in fire. Two lines were stretched and an attack was initiated on the fire. Altamont Engine 367 arrived on scene and supplied water to 43-15. Englewood Engine 369 arrived and sent their manpower to assist with overhaul.
Firefighters were clear of the scene within a half hour while New Castle Township Police investigated the incident.
