LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – A large brush fire struck lower Luzerne County on Thursday, May 12. In the early afternoon, Luzerne County 9-1-1 dispatched Hazle Township Fire & Rescue to the area off Rails-to-Trails for a reported brush fire.
Crews arrived on scene to find a large brush fire in a secluded area of brush and woodlands. Extra units were called in to the scene as the fire continued to rapidly grow. Units from Luzerne, Carbon and Schuylkill Counties were called into the scene.
