SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Firefighters from Carbon and Schuylkill Counties responded to reports of a barn fire Sunday afternoon. Crews were dispatched to the intersection of Blue Mountain Drive and Fort Franklin Road in West Penn Twp., Schuylkill County. Responding units were advised of a caller reporting hay on fire within the barn. First arriving officers found a barn with smoke showing. The ladder and an additional engine from Tamaqua were requested. A tanker fill site was established on SR 309 just south of the SR 895 intersection. Crews were able to access the fire and quickly douse the flames. Firefighters were on scene for just under an hour performing overhaul. Units from Walker Twp., Tamaqua, New Ringgold and East Penn Twp. assisted at the scene.
