Ashland garage goes two bells

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 12:48 AM on Wednesday, August 1, the Ashland Fire Department was dispatched to 16 North 12th Street in their borough for a reported garage fire.  Mt. Carmel Truck 2 (Northumberland County) was also on the first alarm.

 

Ashland Police Unit 42 was the first responder on scene and found heavy fire from a garage in the 1200 block of Chestnut Street.  Chief 38 arrived on scene shortly after and assumed command.

Engine 38-10 and Engine 38-15 arrived on scene and stretched multiple inch and three quarter hand lines to begin to knock down the fire.  38-15 secured a water supply from a hydrant at 13th and Chestnut.  After about ten minutes on scene, command requested a second alarm be dispatched to the scene.

 

The second alarm included Shenandoah Ladder 745, Altamont Engine 368, Girardville Engine 45-10, Gordon Engine 46-10, Mt. Carmel Engine 2 and Englewood for their Rapid Intervention Team.  All second alarm companies were directed to stage at 12th and Centre Streets.

The fire was knocked down within fifteen minutes and crews began the overhaul process.  Crews from Girardville assisted with the overhaul while the rest of the second alarm remained staged.  The additional companies were released after fifteen minutes.
