New apparatus feature on Fire & Film!
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – On Tuesday, May 3, Fire & Film introduced a new feature to the website. The feature entitled “Apparatus” gives you one place to find photos of apparatus in action. Schuylkill County Apparatus lists all fire districts and then breaks each district into stations. Lower Luzerne County Apparatus were also updated. Continue to check back in on a regular basis and these pages will be updated after every incident that is photographed. Englewood houses Pierce engine
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – On Saturday, August 3, The Friendship Fire Company of Englewood hosted a housing ceremony for their 2013 Pierce Velocity Engine. The festivities began with an apparatus parade commencing at 1:00 PM. Over thirty pieces of apparatus gathered from surrounding communities to celebrate the housing. After the parade, the housing ceremony was emceed by fire company president Bill Blickley. Plaques were given out to many different people and organization for their contributions over the years including Pierce representatives, the Ladies’ Auxiliary and neighboring fire companies. PA firefighters attend memorial service at NFA
EMMITSBURG, MD – Firefighters from all parts of Pennsylvania gathered at the Nation Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland for the PA State Weekend to participate in a weekend full of training and camaraderie. Class topics ranged from initial company operations to politics and the white hat. On Saturday evening, July 20, attendees assembled in an auditorium in the E Building for a Firefighters’ Memorial Service. The service started with a procession led by the music of the Highlanders Pipe Band. Mahanoy City strikes second alarm on rowhome fire
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 2:00 AM on April 6 Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched the Mahanoy City Fire Department, Frackville for their ladder, Mahanoy City EMS and Shenandoah ALS to 329 East Centre Street in Mahanoy City for a reported house fire. First responding units were advised that multiple calls were received for smoke and flames coming from the first floor of a rowhome. Assistant Chieff 455 arrived on the scene and confirmed the working fire with heavy fire from Side “A” and stated there was possible entrapment. Firefighter flown from scene of Hazleton fire
LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Shortly after 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, Hazleton City Fire and APTS Medic 11 was dispatched to 411 Kiefer Avenue in the city for a reported house on fire. First arriving units found heavy smoke filling the street. Chief 2 arrived and assumed command of the incident. Engine 3 pulled past the residence so Ladder 1 could take the address. Engine 2 performed a reverse lay from Engine 3 and secured a water supply from a hydrant at Kiefer and Mill. Pipeline 4 positioned behind the Ladder. 4 alarm fire with a jumper in Shenandoah, PA
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 3:20 AM on Saturday February 23, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched the Shenandoah Fire Department, Shenandoah ALS and Mahanoy City West End Rescue 993 to 38 West Coal Street in Shenandoah for a reported dwelling fire with entrapment. Police and EMS quickly arrived on scene confirming a working fire in the middle of a row. The responders also confirmed entrapment with a female hanging out a third story window. Hazleton battles stubborn apartment building fire
LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Around 11:15 on Sunday, December 2 Luzerne County 9-1-1 dispatched the Hazleton City Fire Department and APTS Medic 11 to the unit block of North Cedar Street for a reported residential structure fire. Chief 2 (Jones) went responding and was advised the center was receiving multiple calls for an apartment building fire with children possibly trapped at 53 North Cedar Street. Ladder 1 arrived and took the front of the building to find heavy smoke showing from a three story multi-family dwelling.
