Englewood houses Pierce engine
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – On Saturday, August 3, The Friendship Fire Company of Englewood hosted a housing ceremony for their 2013 Pierce Velocity Engine. The festivities began with an apparatus parade commencing at 1:00 PM. Over thirty pieces of apparatus gathered from surrounding communities to celebrate the housing. After the parade, the housing ceremony was emceed by fire company president Bill Blickley. Plaques were given out to many different people and organization for their contributions over the years including Pierce representatives, the Ladies’ Auxiliary and neighboring fire companies. Hazle Twp. finds fire showing from apartment building
LUZERNE COUNTY – At 4:57 PM on Tuesday, October 16, Hazle Township Fire, Harwood Fire and APTS Medic 11 were dispatched to 1143 Harwood Road in Hazle Township for a reported commercial structure fire. Hazle Township Assistant Chief 141-4 (Zoshak) went responding and was advised of a three story multi-family apartment building receiving multiple calls for smoke coming from the building. The chief arrived on the scene and confirmed a working fire with heavy smoke showing and requested an additional tone for the working fire. Harwood Road Command was established. PA State Convention
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA – On Saturday, September 29, Fire & Film traveled to Norristown for the 133rd annual Firemen’s Association of the State of Pennsylvania Convention. Schuylkill Historical Fire Society holds annual muster
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – The Schuylkill Historical Fire Society held its annual muster at the Schuylkill County Fire Academy on Sunday, September 9. Participating apparatus started off the day with a parade from the Schuylkill Mall through Frackville and onto the training grounds. The parade entered the Academy by passing under an arch made by retired ladders from Tamaqua and Shenandoah. Multiple engines then set up around the large pond that is on the training campus to begin their drafting operations. Shenandoah contains garage fire
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Fire & Film Correspondent Tony Flaim was on the scene of a working garage fire in the borough of Shenandoah. Around 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 28, firefighters were sent to 413 West Coal Street in the borough for a reported garage fire. Chief 740 arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire in a garage with heavy black smoke showing. Engine 742 arrived and stretched an inch and three-quarter line and began to knock the fire. Kutztown extinguishes bulldozer fire
BERKS COUNTY, PA – Around 10:00 AM on Friday, April 27, Berks 9-1-1 dispatched Company 46 (Kutztown) to Route 222 Northbound between South Kemp Road and Hilltop Road for a reported vehicle fire. Initial responding officers were advised of a piece of equipment on fire in a field next to the highway. Chief 46 and Deputy 46 arrived on the scene to find a working bulldozer fire in a field placed a few hundred yards off the roadway. Large home destroyed by fire in Columbia County
COLUMBIA COUNTY, PA – Around 8:30 PM on Saturday, April 21 Columbia County dispatched Stations 270 (Numidia), 50 (Catawissa) and 350 (Aristes) to 2191 Mill Road in Locust Twp. for a reported dwelling fire. Units were quickly re-alerted for the working fire. First arriving crews found a large home set back in the woods with heavy fire throughout. A detached shed was also found to be on the fire on the B side of the structure. All occupants and pets had escaped the house prior to the fire department’s arrival.
