Two large brush fires strike central Schuylkill County
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 2:15 PM on Sunday, April 24, the Pottsville Bureau of Fire was dispatched to investigate smoke and a possible brush fire on Peach Mountain Road. Assistant Chief P-4 went responding and was advised of additional calls reporting a brush fire near Peach Mountain Road and Mountain Drive. 6 people killed in Pottsville house fire
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 11:55 PM on Sunday, May 13, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 Transmitted Box 37 for the address of 231 Pierce Street in the City of Pottsville for a reported house fire with entrapment. Responding units were advised of multiple calls reporting a fire with multiple people trapped within. The police department arrived on the scene and confirmed a fully involved single family dwelling. Schuylkill County companies take advanced RIT
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – On Saturday, November 18 crews from throughout Schuylkill County met at an acquired structure in the Borough of Gilberton to participate in the final day of Rapid Intervention Team advanced training. The class was taught by Father Bill Glosser with help from Kevin Sibbett and Steve Schneider. The class was open for registration for all companies throughout the county. Firefighters from Englewood, Llewellyn, Mahanoy City (Citizens and West End) and Pottsville attended the class and were able to learn many tips and practice their skills. Two jump from Pottsville house fire
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 11:15 AM on Saturday, November 17 the Pottsville Fire Department was dispatched to 101 North 16th Street in the City for a house fire with entrapment. Responding crews were advised of two people reportedly trapped in the house. Units arrived to find heavy fire to the rear of a three story duplex. Fire had consumed almost the entire “C” side of the house and heavy smoke was pushing from the windows. Two people had jumped from upper floors to escape from the heat and flames. MAYDAY declared at four alarm fire
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – After 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 31, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 sent the Schuylkill Haven Fire Department to 20 West Main Street in their borough for a reported commercial structure fire. The fire was reported to be at Schuylkill Gun Works, a local firearms retailer. First arriving crews found heavy fire showing from the rear of the gun shop which was located in the middle of a row in the downtown business district. Buffet House destroyed in Saturday night blaze
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – A basement fire destroyed a business on Route 61 south of Pottsville on Saturday, November 26. While crews were still operating at the textile fire in Cressona, the box was sent to the Buffet House Chinese restaurant on Route 61 for a reported commercial fire. Crews arrived to find a working basement fire. An interior attack was initiated but all members were ordered to evacuate within 30 minutes due to worsening conditions on the first floor. Commercial building burns to ground in Cressona
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – A fire broke out at a textile facility in Cressona around 6:30 PM on Saturday, November 26. Arriving crews found heavy fire showing from the building. Multiple hand lines and master streams were immediately put into service. Command requested a tanker task force to supplement the water supply. An additional ladder was called into the scene for an extra elevated master stream. The fire eventually led to the entire building collapsing. Click here to view the entire photo gallery
