4+ alarms called to Shenandoah as fire destroys two blocks of homes

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 10:40 AM, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched the first alarm assignment to the area of 400 East Centre Street in Shenandoah for a working structure fire.  The first alarm brought the Shenandoah Fire Department, Frackville Ladder 43-20 and Mahanoy City West End. Flames destroy garage, spread to Brandonville home

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 5:15 AM on Sunday, May 8, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 sent the first alarm to the area of 57 Main Boulevard in the Brandonville section of East Union Township for a reported garage on fire. Chief 09-02 went responding and was advised of two calls reporting a garage fire, one caller reported hearing a bang then saw fire from the garage.  While responding, an additional call was received reporting a fully involved garage. Commercial fire draws crews from three counties

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 1:08 PM, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 49, Station 2 (McAdoo Inc.) to Lofty Road in Kline Township for a reported building on fire.  Carbon Engine 2911 (Trescow) and Luzerne Medic 11 (APTS) were also on the initial alarm. First responding crews were advised of multiple reports of an old building on fire on Lofty Road, it was unsure where exactly the building was located.  Police found the fire to be at the old American Cable Recyclers building at 599 Lofty Road in Delano Township. Church burns on Mount Saint Mary’s Campus

EMMITSBURG, MD – Around 8:30 PM on Friday, July 19, firefighters from around Pennsylvania were gathered at the National Fire Academy in Maryland for the PA State Weekend of training.  Attendees heard fire whistles in the distance and quickly found out a nearby church was on fire.  A column of smoke could be seen from the Academy grounds. The fire was found to be on the campus of Mount Saint Mary’s University.  The fire appeared to start from a lightning strike during a severe thunderstorm that recently moved through the area. SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 11:55 PM on Sunday, May 13, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 Transmitted Box 37 for the address of 231 Pierce Street in the City of Pottsville for a reported house fire with entrapment.  Responding units were advised of multiple calls reporting a fire with multiple people trapped within. SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 10:43 PM on Tuesday, April 9, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched the West Mahanoy Township Fire Department (Shenandoah Heights, William Penn and Altamont), the Shenandoah Fire Department for Squrt 745 and Squad 741, Englewood Fire for their Rapid Intervention Team and Shenandoah ALS to 191 Ohio Avenue in the Shenandoah Heights section of the township for a reported house fire.  The call was quickly upgraded to a fire with entrapment. SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 2:00 AM on April 6 Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched the Mahanoy City Fire Department, Frackville for their ladder, Mahanoy City EMS and Shenandoah ALS to 329 East Centre Street in Mahanoy City for a reported house fire. First responding units were advised that multiple calls were received for smoke and flames coming from the first floor of a rowhome.  Assistant Chieff 455 arrived on the scene and confirmed the working fire with heavy fire from Side “A” and stated there was possible entrapment. LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – At 5:24 PM on Monday, April 1 fire crews from West Hazleton, Hazle Twp. and Harwood were dispatched to the area of North Third Street and Green Street in West Hazleton Borough for a reported structure fire. LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – Shortly after 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, Hazleton City Fire and APTS Medic 11 was dispatched to 411 Kiefer Avenue in the city for a reported house on fire.  First arriving units found heavy smoke filling the street.  Chief 2 arrived and assumed command of the incident. Girardville home catches fire during Butler blaze

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 4:45 AM while crews were battling a two alarm blaze in neighboring Butler Township, Fire District 45 (Girardville Fire) was dispatched to East Ogden Street in the area of the Rangers firehouse for a reported dwelling fire.
