Church burns on Mount Saint Mary’s Campus
EMMITSBURG, MD – Around 8:30 PM on Friday, July 19, firefighters from around Pennsylvania were gathered at the National Fire Academy in Maryland for the PA State Weekend of training. Attendees heard fire whistles in the distance and quickly found out a nearby church was on fire. A column of smoke could be seen from the Academy grounds. The fire was found to be on the campus of Mount Saint Mary’s University. The fire appeared to start from a lightning strike during a severe thunderstorm that recently moved through the area. Mahanoy City strikes second alarm on rowhome fire
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 2:00 AM on April 6 Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched the Mahanoy City Fire Department, Frackville for their ladder, Mahanoy City EMS and Shenandoah ALS to 329 East Centre Street in Mahanoy City for a reported house fire. First responding units were advised that multiple calls were received for smoke and flames coming from the first floor of a rowhome. Hazleton and West Hazleton battle two blazes within the hour
LUZERNE COUNTY, PA – At 5:24 PM on Monday, April 1 fire crews from West Hazleton, Hazle Twp. and Harwood were dispatched to the area of North Third Street and Green Street in West Hazleton Borough for a reported structure fire. West Hazleton Chief 3 went enroute and was advised that the caller thought they saw a house on fire in that area. Girardville home catches fire during Butler blaze
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Around 4:45 AM while crews were battling a two alarm blaze in neighboring Butler Township, Fire District 45 (Girardville Fire) was dispatched to East Ogden Street in the area of the Rangers firehouse for a reported dwelling fire. Chief 45 arrived on the scene and confirmed a working fire. Flames were showing from the rear of a single family dwelling and rapidly spreading up the side of the house. SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – Shortly after 2:30 AM on Wednesday March 6, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched Fire District 4 (Butler Township) to the area of Main Street in Locust Dale for a reported house on fire. First responding units were advised that the caller was reporting a well involved abandoned dwelling. SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 4:15 PM on Sunday, February 24 Schuylkill County dispatched Fire Districts 2 (Kaska and Cumbola), 32 (Walker Twp.) and 54 (New Philadelphia) to 1120 Mountain Road at Kuperavage Coal Company in Blythe Township for a reported working commercial garage fire. New Philly Engine 54-11 was the first apparatus on the scene and confirmed the working fire with smoke showing from the building. Arson fire rocks Shamokin
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA – Around 10:30 PM on Monday, January 28, fire crews in Northumberland County were cleaning up from a two alarm job in Coal Township when the first alarm assignment was transmitted for Sunbury and Franklin Streets for a reported dwelling fire. Units arrived on the scene to find a large three-story brick row heavily involved in fire. Heavy lines were stretched and crews also went to the rear. Coal Township hits second alarm
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA – Around 7:30 PM on Monday, January 29, Northumberland County sent out the first alarm assignment for a dwelling fire at the corner of Wabash Street and Sherman Street in Coal Township. First arriving units found heavy fire showing from the first floor. Brady Engine 151 arrived and began to stretch multiple lines. As other first alarm units were arriving the second alarm was transmitted bringing in companies from surrounding communities. House burns in West Mahanoy Township
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 12:47 PM on Wednesday, December 12, Schuylkill County 9-1-1 dispatched the West Mahanoy Township Fire Department (William Penn, Shenandoah Heights and Altamont) with the Hookies and Columbia from the Shenandoah Fire Department to 1200 West Coal Street in the Township for a reported house fire. Shenandoah ALS was also included on the first alarm assignment. Shenandoah Medic 6401 pulled out of the station and saw smoke showing from 12 blocks away.
